Blackwater is taking a cautious approach as it remains in search for a new reinforcement this 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup.

The Elite were left with no choice but to look for a replacement import after Trevis Simpson tore his groin muscle Saturday in their 118-93 loss to San Miguel.

Team manager Johnson Martines shared Blackwater has yet to select a new reinforcement to backstop the squad and will wait for team owner Dioceldo Sy’s return overseas before making the call.

“We have not decided on it yet. Maybe, by Wednesday, we’ll have our guy,” he said in a text message.

Simpson averaged 24.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in his first two games for the Elite before being going scoreless in 10 minutes against the Beermen.

The 25-year-old was evidently playing through the pain as he hobbled all over the court and the team decided to shut him down for the second half.

Luckily, Blackwater has the luxury of time with its next game set on August 6, against Rain or Shine, giving the Elite plenty of time to integrate the new import.

The Elite are currently at the cellar of the standings with a 0-3 record together with the Kia Picanto and Alaska Aces.
