Del Rosario, Acena share PPS honors
Marcus del Rosario posted victories in singles and doubles while Bea Acena seized three titles as Metro Manila bets dominated the Orchard leg of Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala age group tennis in Dasmariñas, Cavite, Monday.
Del Rosario trounced Stefano Gurria, 6-0, 6-3, to claim the boys’ 16-and-under crown in the Group 2 tournament and teamed up with Lorenz Quitara to crush Geluz and Gurria, 8-2, for the 18-U doubles plum.
The third-ranked Acena of Valle Verde Country Club overpowered sister Renee twice—6-2, 6-2 in the girls’ 16-U finals and 6-1, 6-0 in the 18-U finals.
The Acenas later routed Elise Geluz and Denise Bernardo, 8-0, to run away with the 18-U doubles title.
Other winners: Kean Enriquez of Cavite, Samuel Nuguit of Las Piñas, Diego Dayrit and Gabriel Tiamson of Alabang, Melody Dizon of Laguna and Elise Geluz of Cavite. —VANESSA B. HIDALGO
