Reed seals 70.3 3-peat
LAPU-LAPU CITY—Tim Reed of Australia ruled for a record third straight year in the 2017 Ironman 70.3 Philippines held on Sunday at Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa here.
Reed shrugged off the tough field and finished the 1.9K swim-90Kbike-21K run course in 3 hours, 54 minutes and 7 seconds.
Article continues after this advertisementReed pulled away for good in the bike course, establishing a 2:39 gap coming into the second transition.
“I knew I was very fit and I knew I’d have a good chance,” said Reed. “But if somebody beat me, I put in a really good performance, I’m ok with that.”
Mauricio Mendez of Mexico was second in 3:56:46.
