Jeff Chan will be the next player to leave Rain or Shine.
Sources bared to the INQUIRER that the Elasto Painters are set to trade the 33-year-old gunslinger to Phoenix in exchange for Mark Borboran and the Fuel Masters’ 2020 second round pick.
The trade papers have already been submitted to the Office of the Commissioner with the deal expected to be approved on Monday.
The Bacolod-born Chan has been with Rain or Shine since 2009, where he blossomed into one of the league’s deadliest snipers that earned him a spot in the silver medal-winning Gilas Pilipinas squad in the 2013 Fiba Asia Championship.
Under former coach Yeng Guiao, the nine-year veteran won two championships with the franchise and earned the Finals MVP honors in the 2012 PBA Governors’ Cup.
This conference, Chan is averaging 9.0 points on 27 percent shooting from three in the three games he played.
Acquiring Chan gives Phoenix an elite shooter to fortify its wing rotation that will complement rookie Matthew Wright and JC Intal.
Meanwhile, the 6-foot-4 Borboran is expected to split minutes with James Yap, Gabe Norwood, and Jericho Cruz in the wing position.
