Vincent Floirendo seals top driver plum with Clark triumph

Vincent Floirendo formally sealed the GT Driver of the Year plum with another big win recently in the championship round of the 2011 Yokohama Philippine GT Championship Series at the Clark International Speedway.

Floirendo, who missed action in the Sprint race, bounced back with a dominating run to rule the Main GT Race of this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP).

He quickly grabbed the top spot and widened the gap after each lap as he wrapped up the race in 33 minutes and 4.656, 55.608 seconds ahead of runner-up Ramil Madriaga.

Floirendo wrapped up the series with a total of 320 points.

Arnel Carlos, who earlier topped the Sprint Race, checked in fourth clocking 34 minutes and 13.166 seconds as he copped the GT200 crown over son Dwight Kevin Carlos and third placer Joselu Romero-Salas.

Nueva Ecija bet Dean Joson clinched the GT130 crown over Willie Torres while Jojo Laviña claimed the GT100 title.

Equally exciting was the Classic Mini event where Dindo Razonable prevailed over Sebastian Jose Donato and Allen Reyes.

Razonable only finished third behind Arvis Gervacio and Arvin Monzon in the Pre-Final race but worked his way up to the top, finishing the seven-lap race in 20:26.098 or more than a minute ahead of Donato and Reyes.
