PH women’s netball team begins SEA Games campaign vs Thais
KUALA LUMPUR — Women’s netball, which joined at the last minute, will battle Thailand at 3 p.m. to kickstart its Southeast Asian Games campaign at Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara here.
Netball Philippines president Dr. Charlie Ho said they are more prepared this time than two years ago when the team debuted in the biennial games and lost all five matches.
Of those matches, the Philippines dropped a 112-11 loss to Malaysia which has put the team in ignominy.
Against the Thais, however, the Filipinos will at least try to come up with a competitive showing to jumpstart their campaigns.
Singapore won the gold two years ago, while Malaysia took silver. Brunei and Thailand tied for bronze. The country finished sixth behind Myanmar which was fifth.
