BIÑAN, Laguna—The Philippines is looking to end its campaign in the AVC Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship with a win ahead of its campaign in the Southeast Asian Games.
The Philippines were fresh off a three-set loss to Chinese-Taipei, 25-19, 25-20, 25-19, in the classification stage that took their chance away to take the fifth seed.
“Tomorrow will be our last game in the tournament so we really have to take a strong win before we head to the SEA Games,” said Frances Molina in Fiipino at Alonte Sports Arena.
The 59th-ranked Philippines will face Kazakhstan, the no. 21 team in the FIVB rankings, for the seventh place in the tournament.
Molina said they will look to bounce back after their earlier loss to the Kazakhs in the preliminaries where they got swept 25-23, 25-20, 25-19.
“We were prepared for them in our last game but we just couldn’t get over their height advantage,” said Molina.
The Kazakhs have a 7-centimeter average height advantage over the Philippines with only Jaja Santiago serving as the hosts’ lone towering figure as the lanky hitter stands at 6-foot-5.
