Big Chill faces Café France, eyes PBA D-League lead

MANILA, Philippines—Big Chill tries to join idle Freego Jeans on top when it tangles with Café France Monday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Trinity University of Asia gym.

Coach Arsenio Dysangco thinks his Super Chargers have more to show in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup.

The Super Chargers and the Bakers collide at 2 p.m. with Dysangco confident that his boys have enough motivation to pull through.

“We still have a long way to go,” he said. “But playing for a place at the top with Freego, plus the fact that this is our best start, are certainly reasons enough to keep us hungry.”

Cebuana Lhuillier and Blackwater, both recent victims of Freego Jeans, tangle at 4 p.m.

The Gems and the Elite share third at 3-1 after absorbing their first loss in four matches against the Jeans Makers.

Coach Edgar Macaraya said he expects a better defensive effort from his Bakers, who rallied from 18-points down to trip Cobra, 78-73, for their first triumph in four games.

“Now they know how to win. Before they we were just happy to be able to lead,” said Macaraya, who’s banking on Mac Montilla and Jeff Viernes.

The Super Chargers, leaning on Jessie Collado and Alex Mallari, are also coming off a thrilling 62-61 escape over Dub Unlimited.

“It was a good test of character for us,” noted Dysangco.
