Alarmed by its findings that many kids in Marawi City see terrorists as heroes, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) will have to revisit the area several times to rectify the disturbing reality.

PSC Chair Butch Ramirez said they would hold a series of Children’s Games for the Bangsamoro children in Cotabato, Zamboanga and Lanao Del Norte before the year ends.

Three weeks ago, Iligan City catered to the children of Marawi City evacuees who were displaced by the long-running armed conflict started by the Maute terrorist group.

Nearly 300 children competed for three days as they temporarily took their minds off the daily sight of truckloads of soldiers.

“The Children’s Games is the anthem of hope for the Philippines, especially in the midst of terrorism, poverty and conflict,” said Ramirez.
