An extremely rare phenomenon took place over the weekend, as the Great American Eclipse put on a show over the skies of the United States.
But sadly for an NBA franchise that shares the name of the massive star, the Phoenix Suns, rival teams took the astronomical event as a chance to poke fun at the Arizona-based squad.
As the Moon passed the Earth and “blocked” the Sun, teams collated videos of their players blocking the Suns’ squad, starting with the Atlanta Hawks’s social media team.
“In honor of the sun being blocked today, here are our best blocks against the @Suns over the past few years!” the Hawks captioned the video, along with the hashtag #SolarEclipse2017.

The Brooklyn Nets could not resist the urge as well and posted a clip of their own.

The Minnesota Timberwolves also chimed in, sharing a clip of Karl Anthony Towns emphatically swatting Devin Booker’s shot.

The Milwaukee Bucks rounded out the mischievous bunch, claiming to have been blocking the Suns since 1968.

The Suns’ social media team, meanwhile, refused to take the online abuse and threatened to “block” back. /ra
