Gymnast captures Philippines’ 4th gold in SEA Games

KUALA LUMPUR — Reyland Yuson Capellan snagged the men’s artistic gymnastics floor exercise gold medal Tuesday in the Southeast Asian Games at MITEC Hall 6 here.
Capellan totalled 13.950 points to retain the crown after winning the same event in the 2015 Singapore edition.
Malaysia’s Zul Bahrin Sin Mat Asri took silver with 13.750, while Thailand’s Tikumporn Surintornta settled for bronze with 13.600.
The other Filipino in the event, 18-year-old first-timer John Matthew Vergara was eighth place.
It was the country’s fourth gold medal, and first for the day although more are expected in athletics later.
