Some fans, however, are more intrigued on what will happen with the upcoming NBA 2K18 video game, which features Kyrie Irving donning a Cavs jersey as cover athlete.
The game is slated to come out on Sept. 19, while those who pre-ordered will get their hands on it a week earlier.

Shortly after the 25-year-old guard from Duke traded his red wine jersey for the Celtic green, 2K’s official Twitter page acknowledged the situation with a short tweet.

Jason Argent, 2K’s senior VP of basketball operations, gave a more detailed explanation about the game developer’s next move.
“We are excited to be part of one of the most memorable NBA offseasons in history with Kyrie, our 2K18 cover athlete, and Isaiah, one of the stars of our 2K roster, trading places. This isn’t an unprecedented event, a cover athlete being traded – but it’s certainly interesting timing with 2K18 being released in less than a month,” he said in a statement, via the Game Informer.
“The good news is that as the most authentic and realistic basketball game on the market, we’re used to being nimble and responding to changes in the NBA. Fans should be thrilled to know that we will issue a version of 2K18 featuring Kyrie in a Boston Celtics uniform at a later date,” he added. Khristian Ibarrola /ra
