Biado learns from masters

KUALA LUMPUR—It’s hardly surprising that Carlo Biado ruled the men’s 9-ball singles in the 29th Southeast Asian Games here.

He learned from the best: Former world champions and billiards legends Efren “Bata” Reyes and Francisco “Django” Bustamante.

“They taught me a lot of shots during training,” said the 33-year-old Biado of his coaches. “They know a lot of shots that I can use in competitions.”

Reyes and Bustamante also taught him to be confident.

“I’m ready to face anybody,” added Biado, a former golf caddy who also won the gold in last month’s World Games in Wroclaw, Poland.

Biado will next see action in the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games this September in Turkmenistan.

During the 2015 Games in Singapore, Biado also teamed up with Dennis Orcollo in ruling the doubles event.
