ANTIPOLO—Globalport pulled off a 119-112 upset over TNT to get a crack at a quarterfinals spot in the PBA Governors’ Cup Friday at Ynares Sports Center here.

The Batang Pier relied on dead-eye shooting late in the game and improved to 3-3 for ninth place while the KaTropa slipped to 4-3 after seeing their streak snapped.

Globalport was rampant with its shooting in the final frame as Sean Anthony and Mike Cortez solely scored on the Batang Pier’s 13-4 run in the fourth to give their team a 104-92 lead at the 5:56 mark.

“It’s a morale-boosting win for us,” said Batang Pier head coach Franz Pumaren. “Each game is very important and I think until the very end, every game will have a bearing because it’s all locked up in the middle of the standings.”

Stanley Pringle lit up the boards with a game-high 30 points, on 10-of-16 shooting, eight rebounds, and four assists while Murphey Holloway added 24 points, 17 rebounds, and six assists for Globalport.

Anthony finished with 21 points and six rebounds for the Batang Pier.

Glen Rice Jr. led TNT with a game-high 39 points to go along 13 rebounds but he turned the ball over 11 times.
