Alaska finally put an end to its longstanding woes with a 90-79 win over San Miguel Beer in the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup Saturday night at AUF Gym in Pampanga.
The Aces snapped their franchise-worst losing skid at 14 games and chalked up their first victory in the season-ending conference after a 0-7 start.
Buck Henton delivered 36 points and 15 rebounds while Calvin Abueva added 13 points and nine rebounds for Alaska, which looked like the formidable team it was once before its downward spiral.
It was the Aces’ first taste of victory since April.
Arwind Santos had 29 points and nine rebounds as he carried much of the load for the Beermen, who drew a disappointing outing from new import Terik Bridgeman.
Bridgeman scored only two points on 1-of-4 shooting from the field with six turnovers in 21 minutes.
And while Alaska ended its struggles, San Miguel is just dealing with its own after dropping its second straight game.
