PCCL: Adamson soars, faces San Sebastian next

MANILA, Philippines—Adamson, with its main gunners hobbled by injuries, leaned on Austin Manyara and Janus Lozada to upend Jose Rizal University, 73-58, Tuesday in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Manyara asserted his size to chalk up 12 of his 16 points at the stripe to go along with nine rebounds and a block while Lozada had a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Falcons, who battles NCAA finalist San Sebastian next, were still without their star Alex Nuyles due to a nagging shoulder injury while playmaker Lester Alvarez played limited minutes.
Adamson shook off a lethargic start to lead by eight, 48-40, to start the final quarter.

The Heavy Bombers, who were fresh off a 66-62 win over National University Monday, displayed their usual passing game for a total of 20 assists but had a hard time controlling the leather as they were accounted to 22 turnovers.

Jeckster Apinan paced JRU with 17 points.
