After winning Game 1, the Cavite-born So, now representing the US, settled for a draw with Colombian International Master Joshua Daniel Ruiz Castillo in Game 2 Monday night to barge into the round of 64 via a 1.5-0.5 victory.
After dropping Game 1, Sadorra drew with Russian GM Maxim Matlakov in Game 2 and yielded their match, also by 1.5-0.5 score.
Top seed GM Magnus Carlsen of Norway beat Nigerian Fide Master Oluwafemi Balogun anew for a 2-0 triumph that sent him to the second round with So, Matlakov, and 39 others.
