The Los Angeles Lakers is fully embracing its youth movement in their quest to return as the NBA’s elite.
But to be back atop the extremely tough NBA Western Conference, the “Purple and Gold” is heavily dependent on the potential growth of incoming second-year player Brandon Ingram.
The 20-year-old may have taken the task too literally—as he reportedly hit a growth spurt and has grown an inch or two, according to Lakers beat reporter Mike Trudell.
“I think he’s at least 6’10”. He might be 6’11,” Trudell said of Ingram, who was initially listed at 6’9 during his rookie season.
“I think he might be 6’11”, if not 7 feet,” he shared during an episode of ESPN LA’s “Thompson and Trudell Show”.
Aside from possibly adding more height to his already rangy frame, Trudell claims that the 2016 2nd overall pick has also altered his shooting mechanics and developed his leg strength.
Ingram’s improvement was on display during the 2017 Las Vegas Summer League, but had to sit out the rest of the tourney after just one game due to an injury.
Since then, the sports journalist said the lanky forward has progressed even more.
“You’re just going to have to take my word for it for now until you watch him play,” Trudell said. “I think you’re going to be very pleasantly surprised to see Brandon Ingram.” Khristian Ibarrola/JB
