SILANG, CAVITE—Clyde Mondilla birdied four holes at the back of Langer layout to cap a bogey-free six-under 65 and post a two-shot lead over Ira Alido at the start of the ICTSI Riviera Classic of the PGT Asia Tour Wednesday.
Playing on his home course, Alido strung up three birdies from No. 10 en route to a 67 under soggy condition.
Jerson Balasabas closed out with a birdie on No. 9 for a 69. Colombian Wolmer Murillo also turned in a two-under card with three holes left to play.
Shrugging off his horrendous collapse at ICTSI Splendido Classic last week, Rufino Bayron had a roller-coaster 70 and shared fifth spot with Erwin Arcillas, former club pro Marvin Dumandan, Omar Dungca and Korean amateur Tom Kim.
Jay Bayron, who nipped Mondilla in a playoff to top last year’s Philippine Golf Tour’s Riviera Classic, bogeyed the 18th for a 71 that tied him with American James Bowen, Jobim Carlos, Colombian Jaime Clavijo, James Ryan Lam and Arnold Villacencio.—ROY LUARCA
