Filipino SEA Games medalists receive cash incentives from PSC

The government has been generous in giving out cash bonuses to medal-winning athletes in the recent Kuala Lumpur Southeast Asian Games.

Apart from the monetary incentives provided for by the law, the athletes got an additional financial boost courtesy of Presidential Adviser Dennis Uy and Siklab Atleta Foundation.

President Duterte personally handed out the cash incentives to the athletes on Wednesday at Malacañang Palace. Filipino athletes brought home 24 gold, 33 silver and 64 bronze medals from the SEA Games.

Gold medalists received P300,000, silver performers got P150,000 and bronze finishers took home P60,000 based on Republic Act 10699.

The government, through the Philippine Sports Commission headed by Butch Ramirez, has rewarded a total of P18,037,500 to the athletes while P7,181,250 were awarded to their coaches.

On top of this, Uy and Siklab Atleta Foundation gave an additional P50,000 to the gold medalists, P30,000 for silver finishers and P10,000 for bronze performers.

Double-gold performer Trenten Anthony Beram emerged as the biggest winner for topping the men’s 200m and 400m in track and field worth P600,000.
