40-year-old Stephon Marbury ‘working on’ return to NBA

Stephen Marbury has made himself at home in the Chinese Baskeball Association (CBA), but it looks like he is ready to return to where he started.

The 40-year-old guard, who last played for the Boston Celtics in 2009, bared his desire to return to the National Basketball Association (NBA).

“It’s time to combine. My next move is the best move. Working on the come back to the #nba,” the Brooklyn-native wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Prior to becoming the Chinese league’s most popular adoptive son, “Starbury” was considered one of the NBA’s premier point guards and was named an All Star twice, in 2000-2001 and 2002-2003 seasons.

He was selected fourth overall in the 1996 NBA draft and formed one the most exciting duos in the league alongside Kevin Garnett with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He also made stops with the New Jersey Nets, Phoenix Suns and his hometown New York Knicks.

After seeing his production slip after 14 years in the league, Marbury elected to take his talents to China in 2010, where he experienced a career resurgence—winning three CBA championships, a CBA Finals MVP award, a CBA Foreign MVP award and getting named an All-Star on six occasions, according to Bleacher Report.

It’s going to be quite a task for Marbury, who’s now 40, to land an NBA contract, considering the amount of young and talented players at his position today. /ra
