Griffin, Wall lead NBA All-Rookie squad

NEW YORK—NBA Rookie of the Year Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers and top overall 2010 NBA Draft pick John Wall of Washington were among those named Wednesday to the NBA All-Rookie Team.

Griffin was the only unanimous selection to the squad in votes from NBA coaches with 58 points, followed by Wall on 57, New York’s Landry Fields with 56, Sacramento’s DeMarcus Cousins with 54 and San Antonio’s Gary Neal with 44.

Griffin was the top choice in the 2009 NBA Draft but missed the following season because of a stress fracture in his left knee.

This season, Griffin led the Clippers and all rookies with 22.5 points and 12.1 rebounds a game. He ranked 12th overall among NBA scorers and fourth in the league in rebounds.

He became the first rookie in the NBA All-Star Game since China’s Yao Ming in 2003.

Wall ranked seventh overall in assists with 8.3 assists a game and steals with 1.75 a game and was second among rookie scorers with 16.4 points a game.

The NBA All-Rookie second team included Detroit’s Greg Monroe, Minnesota’s Wesley Johnson, Eric Bledsoe of the Clippers, Utah’s Derrick Favors and Indiana’s Paul George.
