Silang, Cavite—A year after bungling his title campaign here, Clyde Mondilla got sweet redemption Saturday.
Mondilla canned a short birdie on No. 16 then watched Korean amateur Tom Kim and countryman Michael Bibat bogey there to clinch the ICTSI Riviera Classic crown at Langer course with two shots to spare.
With a closing four-under 67, Mondilla pooled a nine-under 275 to bag the $17,500 top purse in the $100,000 event serving as third leg of the PGT Asia Tour.
“I’m thankful my driving and putting clicked when I needed them most,” said Mondilla, who also won at Manila Southwoods and Villamor (Philippine Masters) this year.
The victory erased the stigma of Mondilla’s sudden-death setback to Jay Bayron in the ICTSI Philippine Golf Tour leg here last year.
