NLEX-SCTEX, which is made up of the core of the Cignal HD Hawkeyes which won the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup, went 0-3 in the group stages.
It first got routed by Korean club team Jeonji KCC Egis, 79-99, on Wednesday, before succumbing to defending champion Shanghai Sharks, 65-79, on Thursday.
Despite NLEX-SCTEX’s winless outing, the 6-foot-3 Perkins impressed in the tournament, averaging 24.67 points and 13.67 rebounds to gain steam entering the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft.
