Kazakh club import calls PH team ‘sorriest team I ever played against’ after loss


It was either Justin Carter didn’t read Kazakhstan’s scouting report on the Philippines or his team simply failed to do its homework.

Either way, Carter clearly had no idea how basketball is played in the Philippines after the American import aired his disappointment on Twitter following BC Astana’s loss to Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas on Friday in the opener of the 2017 Fiba Asia Champions Cup in Chenzhou, China.

“Just lost to the sorriest team I ever played against,” wrote Carter, who has drawn flak since the tweet.

The 30-year-old swingman, who was passed up in the 2010 NBA Draft, scored 10 points in BC Astana’s 73-65 defeat to the Philippines, which was led by American reinforcement Isaiah Austin and Kiefer Ravena.

Carter had every reason to feel dismayed with the result after Austin and Ravena willed the Philippines back from an 11-point deficit.

But it would’ve been more appropriate had he expressed his frustration over his performance and not because his team lost to what he described as the most pitiful team he’s faced.
