Ravena anchors 1-1 start for Chooks-To-Go Pilipinas
Kiefer Ravena has come up with a pair of strong scoring performances as Chooks-To-Go Pilipinas split its first two outings in the Fiba Asia Champions Cup at Chenzhou Sports Center in Chenzhou, China.
Ravena led a scintillating rally by the Filipinos late Friday night (Manila time), scoring 22 points to anchor a 73-65 victory over BC Astana of Kazakhstan.
Article continues after this advertisementBut Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas failed to sustain the momentum of that win, falling to Sareyyet Ramallah of Palestine, 89-82, Saturday.
Palestine’s Jamal Abu-Shamalah and imports Todd O’Brien and Anthony Weeden combined for 63 points to spearhead the victory.
Ravena had 24 points in that defeat, keeping the Filipinos in the game in the fourth quarter before Palestine cooled the Filipinos’ fight-back with back-to-back triples. —MARK GIONGCO, INQUIRER.NET
