Ceres edges Global Cebu

Stephan Schrock rifled home an unstoppable effort from 20 yards out as Ceres Negros slipped past fierce rival Global Cebu, 1-0, Sunday night in a battle of powerhouse teams in the Philippines Football League at Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.

In a tight contest where both defenses proved equal to the challenge, Schrock’s brilliance made the difference as the Busmen continued their pursuit of top spot, increasing their tally to 32 points from 15 matches.

The Busmen are still 12 points behind leaders Meralco Manila, but the AFC Cup Asean zone champions have played five less games than the Sparks.

“It was very difficult to score especially if you came from a midweek game,” said Ceres coach Risto Vidakovic.
