Valley turned the tables on Wack Wack with a convincing victory at home to capture the 2017 Federation Golf League championship recently—two years after both forged a historic tie for the crown.
The Antipolo bets forced a 3-3 decision in their visit to Wack Wack, then dominated five of the six matches at their home course for a 4-2 win for the day and an 8-4 overall victory in the home-and-away series.
Valley thus claimed its third league title after breaking through in 2013 and sharing the crown a year later, its bid for a third win in four years spoiled by the same Wack Wack team last year.
Wack Wack, meanwhile, was denied its sixth championship after taking a league record fifth crown in 2016.
Abe Rosal-Damasus Wong (greensomes 1), Adrian Mauricio/Kirby Lachica (greensomes 2), Lanz Uy/Marco Olives (scramble 1) and the high-low pairs of Carl Corpus/Meynard Ko and Marvin Mendoza/Chino Raymundo fashioned contrasting wins to secure the title-winning feat.
It was Mauricio and Lachica who sealed the victory with their 1 up triumph over Tootsie de Jesus and EJ Marcelo while Uy and Olives dealt Wack Wack’s reliable pair of JP Reyes and Nathan Kawpeng a rare defeat.
