National University head coach Jamike Jarin wants his players to stop relying on just one person to get themselves out of tight situations.

In the Bulldogs’ 90-83 loss to Far Eastern University Wednesday, wingman J-Jay Alejandro was the lone player from Jarin’s team to display the fighting spirit in the fourth quarter against the Tamaraws.

And seeing just one player try to carry the whole team did not bode well with Jarin as they dropped to 2-3 in the UAAP Season 80 men’s basketball standings.

“An all J-Jay offense is a concern,” said Jarin at Smart Araneta Coliseum. “This team is not talented enough to win games individually so it has to be a collective team effort. We need to step up offensively and defensively.”

NU trailed 76-68 at the start of the fourth until Alejandro willed the Bulldogs to a 9-2 run late in the period to cut the deficit to five, 86-81.

Alejandro scored 11 of his 23 points in the fourth while his teammates mustered just four in the final period.
