Adamson breezed through University of the East, 79-60, for its third win in the UAAP Season 80 men’s basketball tournamentSunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Soaring Falcons tied University of the Philippines, which got blown out by Far Eastern University earlier, for a share of the fourth spot with a 3-2 record while the Red Warriors fell to a woeful 0-5 mark.

Adamson head coach Franz Pumaren knew the importance of their game against the Red Warriors as the victory pushed them above .500 and prepared them for tough games ahead against Final Four contenders UP and FEU.

“This is the first time in the season that we’re above .500 and it’s going to be a brutal week for us,” said Pumaren.

“We’ll be playing against tough teams and hopefully this can help us in our coming games especially against UP. The last two games [in the first round] will be crucial on our part to end above .500.”

The Falcons mounted a 10-0 run midway through the third quarter to take a 55-38 lead and never letup until the final buzzer.

Papi Sarr led the Falcons with a 15-point, 16-rebound double-double while Sean Manganti added 10 points.

Mark Olayon had 16 points to lead UE while Alvin Pasaol added 15 of his own.
