Red Lions want to feast on Altas; JRU vs Benilde

San Beda hopes to stay within striking distance of leader Lyceum when it clashes with struggling Perpetual Help on Tuesday in NCAA Season 93 at Filoil Flying V Centre.

Running second behind the Pirates with a 13-1 record, the Red Lions are targeting a 13th straight victory when they face the Altas, who are seeking to avoid early elimination from the Final Four race.

With a 4-9 record, the Altas could see their hopes end with another defeat to the Lions, who beat them on their home floor during the first round.

For their part, the Lions are seeking consistency as they negotiate a tough windup to the second round that includes a duel with the Pirates on Oct. 19.

“We have nothing to be proud of,” said San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez.

Make no mistake about it though, Fernandez isn’t looking past the Altas.

“They lost their last games, but winning against Letran, Perpetual was a different team,” said Fernandez.

Meanwhile, Jose Rizal U seeks to solidify its hold of third spot as it collides with also-ran St. Benilde at 4 p.m.

The Heavy Bombers are coming off an 85-52 win over the Altas last Friday.

“We’re not in the semifinals yet. Anything can happen,” said JRU coach Vergel Meneses.
