Pichay named grievance body head

Chess president Prospero Pichay was named chair of the grievance committee for national sports associations by the Philippine Olympic Committee Friday.

Responding to the clamor for change by several NSA heads, POC president Jose “Peping” Cojuangco Jr. appointed Pichay to oversee the NSAs seeking redress during the general assembly held at Century Park Hotel Manila.

Among the issues raised by 18 NSAs during their meeting on Tuesday was the reinstatement of POC committees, amendments in its constitutions as well as resolution of NSA conflicts.

The POC was also supposed to tackle the 2019 Manila Southeast Asian Games and the 2018 Indonesia Asian Games.

But 2019 SEA Games chief of mission Monsour del Rosario was abroad. Del Rosario had earlier said they will push for “peace and unity” among POC, NSAs and the Philippine Sports Commission.

“We achieve that and everything else will fall into place and maybe we have a shot to be up there in the top three [of the 2019 Games],” said Del Rosario.
