UST, FEU advance to UAAP beach volleyball semifinals
University of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern University secured the first two spots in the semifinals of the UAAP Season 80 beach volleyball tournament Saturday at SM Sands by the Bay.
Season 79’s finalists arrived in the penultimate round unscathed with identical 5-0 records.
Cherry Rondina and Caitlyn Viray ran roughshod over University of the Philippines’ Diana Carlos and Ayel Estrañero, 21-7, 21-15, in its first game.
The Golden Tigresses, then, capped their day with a brutal sweep of Adamson University’s Bernadette Flora and Chrislyn Uy, 21-9, 21-14.
Bernadeth Pons and Kyla Atienza also triumphed over the Lady Falcons, 21-12, 21-14, in their first game on Saturday.
The Lady Tamaraws, then, brushed off the University of the East duo of Judith Abil and Angelica Dacaymat, 21-10, 21-7.
La Salle and the Lady Maroons walked off SM Sands by the Bay with 3-2 records and are poised to take the remaining semifinals spots.
