PSC, school leagues unite

The Philippine Sports Commission has embarked on a mission to strengthen school sports in line with President Duterte’s marching order to make sports available to all.

The government sports agency will again gather the country’s stakeholders in collegiate sports for a two-day conference at Philsports Arena in Pasig on Oct. 17 and 18.

“Ever since I went back to the PSC, we pursued our mandate to develop sports at the grassroots level,” said Chair Butch Ramirez. “We’re going to where sports begins—the family, community, school.”

A series of consultations were already done by the PSC with athletic associations throughout the country.

“We should not stop asking where and how we could help,” said Ramirez.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Presidential Advisor for Sports Dennis Uy and Makati Rep. Monsour del Rosario of the Committee on Youth and Sports have been invited.
