National U also made its presence felt by bringing down University of the Philippines, 25-6, 25-15, 25-18.

Valdez sparkled with 13 hits but the former Junior Tigresses star suffered cramps in the third set, a loss her teammates managed to fill up with excellent plays and a strong defense.
“I’m happy with the way my wards played,” said Ateneo coach Roger Gorayeb. “There were lapses, but 80 to 90 percent, there’s the performance I’m expecting from them.”
