PCCL: Wildcats, 3 others vie for Visayas plum

MANILA, Philippines—Defending champion University of Iloilo headlines the cast vying for the Visayas regional title of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League starting Sunday at the Ormoc Astrodome in Ormoc City. 

The Wildcats will slug it out against Negros Oriental champion Acsat, Negros Occidental winner West Negros University and Leyte titlist AMA Computer Learning Center for a Sweet 16 berth. 

The Visayas champion will earn the right to face Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) second placerSouthwestern U in the Sweet 16 on Tuesday.  The winner advances opposite the survivor of the clash between Cesafi champion University of Cebu and Mindanao titlist STI Olympians of Cagayan de Oro.

That showdown will determine the Southern islands champion and will move on to the semifinals, where UAAP titlist Ateneo and NCAA champion San Beda have already secured their spots.

Also scheduled at the Ormoc Superdome is the clash for the other semifinal berth pitting San Sebastian and Letran. 

The games of the Final Four are covered by ABS-CBN Sports and will be aired live over Studio 23.
