Surging Ateneo eyes repeat vs NU

Ateneo isn’t letting its guard down even with a Final Four berth in UAAP Season 80 within reach.

Hoping to keep their laser-like focus, the Blue Eagles shoot for a ninth straight victory against the National U Bulldogs on Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena.

“We still have to work hard, we can’t be complacent,” said Ateneo swingman Thirdy Ravena, after scoring 15 points in the 71-59 win over Adamson last Saturday.

“You have to have that next game mentality, that you have to prepare, you can’t be complacent. Just because you won the game, that doesn’t mean you can slack off.”

Standing in the way of the Eagles’ unbeaten run is the desperate Bulldogs, who have lost four of their last five games, including a 90-77 defeat to the University of the East last Saturday.

Running sixth with a 3-5 record, the Bulldogs are hoping to avenge their 96-83 loss to the Eagles in the first round of the season.

The Warriors, meanwhile, gun for a third straight victory against the Falcons at 2 p.m.

After losing their first six games, the Warriors, playing with fire and confidence, have notched back-to-back wins at the expense of the University of Santo Tomas and NU.
