Malaysia pads lead over PH Seniors to 3
Malaysia pooled another 236 and padded its lead to three strokes over defending champion Philippines in the 34th Asean Senior Amateur Championships at Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in General Trias, Cavite.
Idris Ngah, who opened with a 71 at Aoki course Wednesday, shot a 76 at the Norman layout but got ample support from Dato Dzaamoddin Salleh, who also shot 76, and Goh Chan Tau, who fired an 84.
With a 472 total, the Malaysians increased their distance over the Filipinos, who pooled a 237 for 475, setting the stage for a final round shootout for the Stroke Play Team Gross title Thursday.
Article continues after this advertisement“The game is not over,” said PH team captain Vidal Querol, who expects Rodel Mangulabnan, Eduardo Sison, Edgar Quiao and Eddy Jose Manzanares to save the host’s title-retention bid in the event hosted by the Federation of Philippine Amateur Senior Golfers, Inc. headed by Melito Salazar Jr.
Sison shot a 77, Mangulabnan added a 79, and Quiao scored an 81 for the PH.
