National athletes stand to get the maximum pay scale from the Philippine Sports Commission after Chair Butch Ramirez vowed to review the allowances of the country’s pride.
A top-tier PH athlete gets as much as P40,000 a month.
“National sports associations can now focus on the elite athletes as we will maximize their allowances,” said Ramirez.
The PSC’s move to raise financial assistance was spurred by a reported P2 billion in its coffers.
“This is not just a promise. We will give it to them,” said Ramirez, adding that the increase will depend on the NSAs’ performance, remittance and the quality of leadership.
Meanwhile, businessman Dennis Uy will provide dining facilities inside Philsports and Rizal Memorial Sports Complex which house some 800 members of Team Philippines.
