BOCAUE – The fans came in troves at Philippine Arena here as the all-time crowd attendance record was smashed on Wednesday for Game six of the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals.

Followers of both Ginebra and Meralco trooped to the world’s largest indoor arena and became a part of the 53,642-strong crowd as the Gin Kings shot for a title repeat.

The mammoth crowd bested the attendance of 52,612 during the opening of the 2014 season, where new teams Blackwater and Kia debuted while Ginebra and TNT played in the main game.

It also surpassed the Finals high set three days prior, after Game 5 attracted 36,445 fans in Bocaue to earn the distinction of biggest attendance in a PBA Finals game, where the Gin Kings beat the Bolts, 85-74.

That Sunday game eclipsed the old record of 23,436 in Game 3 of the 2013 Commissioner’s Cup that pitted Ginebra and Alaska.
