Bombers take on Generals today
MANILA, Philippines–JOSE RIZAL U returns to action after a two-week break today, seeking a tie for third place against Emilio Aguinaldo College in the 86th NCAA basketball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Heavy Bombers gun for their fifth victory in seven games and a deadlock with idle Mapua in the 4 p.m. showdown with the Generals.
“Although we didn’t play for some time, we made sure to stay in shape,” said Jose Rizal coach Vergel Meneses.
Letran hopes to nail its first back-to-back wins of the season when it tangles with Arellano in the first game at 2 p.m.
The Knights are riding high on their 78-64 conquest of St. Benilde that ended their two-game skid last week.
They face an Arellano squad still reeling from a 58-69 defeat to San Sebastian on Wednesday.
The Bombers last played on July 30, taking a 59-72 loss to the San Sebastian Stags.
But the Generals seem to be more focused now. They have been leaning on Emilian Vargas, who scored 17 in the win over Perpetual Help, 78-66.
