Christian Standhardinger isn’t letting the negativity ruin his excitement of being selected by San Miguel Beer as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft.

It wasn’t all cheers for the Fil-German forward when his name was called but he couldn’t care any less.

“I’m actually really good at letting everything out. I’m really good at just focusing on my projects, like my Youtube channel I’m gonna do in the Philippines now in English, and about my career in basketball,” Standhardinger said on Sunday.

“So I don’t really pay attention to these things. I’m just happy it finally worked out. I’ll play in the PBA now and I’ll play with San Miguel.”

The crowd couldn’t help but express its disapproval over the controversial San Miguel-Kia trade that allowed the Beermen to nab Standhardinger.

But there’s just some things the 6-foot-8 forward can’t control and rather than mope on the turn of events that happened the past week, he’s looking forward to the day he can finally play here in the PBA, where he will be forging a partnership with four-time MVP June Mar Fajardo.

“I’m very excited. June Mar is a great, great talent. He can do so many things,” he said.

“I’m very excited with all the matchups against us. I really wanna see that. I’m very excited on playing high-low with June Mar and it’s an honor and it’s a great thing that I can play with a four-time returning MVP. That’s what I got, that’s what I had, that’s what I saw.”

For now, Beermen fans will have to be patient with Standhardinger stll have obligations with his Hong Kong team in the Asean Basketball League.

Standhardinger vowed to give his all every game the moment he makes his debut for San Miguel midway through the next season.

“I’ll show a lot of puso (heart), a lot of fight, and the rest is kinda on the side. But I’m gonna fight my heart out every time and I hope I can make this very strong team a little bit better. That’s my goal,” he said.
