Meralco Manila repulses Kaya
Substitute Jinggoy Valmayor scored in the 92nd minute as Meralco Manila subdued Kaya Makati, 1-0, Saturday night to keep top spot in the Philippines Football League.
The former University of the Philippines standout headed home a cross from Daniel Gadia right at the death as the Sparks prevailed in a physical duel between the two Big City rivals.
“The players stepped up and we are fortunate to have good subs,” said Manila coach Aris Caslib whose team faces JPV at home on Tuesday before clashing with Ceres Negros on Sunday.
Over at Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City, Ceres Negros returned to winning ways after a 5-0 drubbing of JPV Marikina. —CEDELF P. TUPAS
