PSC gets boost from USSA hookup

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) is getting a shot in the arm from the United States Sports Academy (USSA).

PSC chair Butch Ramirez said the linkage with USSA would help the PSC’s Philippine Sports Institute strengthen elite sports and the government’s grassroots programs.

The partnership was forged recently when the PSC and the USSA signed a Protocol of Cooperation at Marco Polo Hotel in Davao City.

“The ball is with us. The journey has been difficult, rough and bumpy,” said Ramirez. “But I can see that at the end of the term of the President (Duterte), we can answer his mantra of making sports accessible to the periphery.”

Based on the protocol of cooperation, USSA will partner with government agencies and organizations endorsed by the PSC to contribute in the national sports development program.

“We have taught programs to over 65 countries,” said USSA president and chief executive officer Dr. Thomas J. Rosandich. “This partnership with the PSC is part of our mission.”
