Batang Pinoy gets going

DUMAGUETE CITY—Regional powerhouse teams from Cebu are zeroing in on maximum possible numbers of qualifiers when the Batang Pinoy Visayas leg starts Friday at Lamberto Macias Sports Complex here.

Cebu City is sending in 270 athletes, while Cebu Province is pinning its hopes on 176 bets who will see action in the meet that gathered 2,500 school-based and out-of-youth athletes who are 15 years old and younger.

Medalists qualify for the National Finals next year.

“We are looking at qualifying more than the majority of our total delegations,” said Cebu Provincial Sports Commission executive director lawyer Ramil Abing.
