LeBron ‘obviously’ interested in owning Cavs someday
Netizens have often joked about how LeBron James owns the Cleveland Cavaliers due to his supposed involvement with the franchise’s management decisions.
But if everything falls into place, “The King” could actually one day purchase the Ohio-based squad, if current owner Dan Gilbert decides to put it up for sale in the future.
Article continues after this advertisementSpeaking to Jason Lloyd of The Athletic, the three-time NBA champion once again bared his dream of one day calling the shots as an owner of an NBA franchise.
“To be an owner of any team would be crazy,” he said. “If this thing opened up and I’m in a position financially, and I’ve got the right team around me, obviously. “
Although he certainly welcomes the thought of owning the team that drafted him No. 1 overall in 2003, James knows that the plan remains far-fetched at best at this point.
Article continues after this advertisement“But who’s to say Dan will (sell)? I’ve always kept it just player/owner at this point. I guess once I come down to that point, if the conversation needed to be had, I’ll have it. But I don’t have it right now,” he explained.
Last May, James also shared his goals of owning a team upon retirement.

However, those aspirations have to wait, as the four-time NBA MVP still has plenty of basketball left in him, and he hopes to lift the Cavaliers from its slump in the ongoing 2017-2018 NBA regular season. Khristian Ibarrola /ra
