Setting their sights on the 2019 World Beach Games and the Southeast Asian Games, national team standouts Jarwin Banatao and Joey Delos Reyes dominated the 2017 National Duathlon Championships held at Subic Bay Freeport.

Banatao retained the men’s title in the 10-kilometer run, 40K bike and 5K run contest with a time of one hour, 57 minutes and 42 seconds.

Delos Reyes placed second in 1:59.02 and John Topia finished the Triathlon Association of the Philippines-oraganized race in 2:00.19.

Duathlon is batting for inclusion in the Philippine SEA Games and the world beach games in San Diego, California, both slated in 2019.

All three podium finishers are backed by Standard Insurance, whose athletes have shone on the local and international scenes.

Just last week, the national team-led Standard Insurance Centennial, a TP 52 Davidson yacht, ruled the premier class of the 11th China Cup International Regatta in Shenzhen.
