Capadocia, Otico future net stars
John Bryan Otico and Marian Jade Capadocia took centerstage on Sunday after ruling the Philippine Columbian Association Open tennis.
The 18-year-old Otico, a product of the Philippine Tennis Academy, stood his ground against veteran Patrick John Tierro to prevail, 6-4, 6-3, 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, in the men’s final.
“I played like I have nothing to lose and just played my best tennis,” said Otico after taking his first PCA crown.
Article continues after this advertisementEarlier, Capadocia seized the women’s tiara at the expense of back-to-back titlist Clarice Patrimonio, 6-3, 6-4.
Otico ran away with the top purse of P100,000 while Capadocia bagged P50,000.
