Chris Bosh’s stellar career as a basketball star may have been cut short due to severe blood clots, but he recently made it clear that he’s not done with the sport.
An 11-time All-Star and two-time NBA champion, the 33-year-old lanky forward expressed his thoughts about his future during an interview on NBA TV’s coverage of the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers game on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila).
After being officially waived by the Heat last July, Bosh bared what’s next for him.
“Probably not coaching. It’s always very interesting. I’m always going to be around the game of basketball,” the Georgia Tech product said.
“I plan to keep my options open as a player moving forward, but that’s not coaching. Maybe front office work, working with teams and spreading the game, maybe teaching the game to young people, that’s something that’s a very big passion.”
With the game shifting to a more free-flowing offense with emphasis on outside shooting, the sweet-stroking big man also can’t help but think how he’ll fare in today’s NBA.
“To be honest, I’m looking at today’s game and I put myself in that position and how I would benefit from the faster basketball, more threes, catch-and-go opportunities, attacking the paint with more space, that’s what kind of gets me juiced up and riled up when I watch today’s game,” he shared.
“I would really want to teach someone how to function without having to have plays called for you.” Khristian Ibarrola /ra
