League-leaders F2 Logistics and Petron on Tuesday are running into token oppositions on their way to the semifinals, but their respective coaches were quick to downplay their chances.
F2 Logistics clashes with Iriga City, while Petron collides with Generika-Ayala in the Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga quarterfinals.
Format doesn’t allow any mistake as it’s a knockout stage with the winners making the semifinals and the losers dropping to the classification stage for 5th to 8th.
Petron coach Shaq delos Santos said that while the Blaze Spikers are now reaching their peak, “at this point we can’t underestimate anybody. We still have to prepare hard because anything can happen.”
“Things get tough from here,” added Delos Santos. “This is already the quarterfinals. One miss and you’re out. There’s no more room for errors. You have to give your best every set.”
Based on their eliminations encounter, the Blaze Spikers, by then still trying to find the right blend for their star-studded roster, handily defeated the Life Savers (25-13, 25-17, 25-19).
The Cargo Movers are still the No. 1 squad despite a defining defeat at the hands of the Foton Tornadoes.
That made the league’s upper crust too tough to call among F2 Logistics, Petron and Foton, whose only defeats in the eliminations were courtesy of one another.
